Connecting people into a deeper life with God by disconnecting them from the world through water sports and high adventure outdoor activities.
Deeper Waters Ministry exists to connect people to God by helping them disconnect from the world. We use day camps at Smith Mountain Lake to teach people how to wakeboard, surf, water ski, Paddle board, kayak and just about anything else you can think of relating to the water to help accomplish this goal. So many people, especially young today have so many things filling their head with unnecessary noise; television, video games, social media and more are distracting them from experiencing real adventures, real relationships, and a very real God. Getting people to disconnect from all of this, even just for a day can have a huge impact on a persons life.
We get to partner with numerous churches, foster care groups, inner city organizations, sex trafficking survivors and more. We also host days where individuals not connected to a group can sign up for day camps as well.
Most of the groups we work with cannot afford to do and experience the types of things we offer, so we ask sponsors and raise support to cover our expenses.
We also host a weekly time for college age and young adults throughout the year to get together for fellowship and community. So many at this age lose direction when leaving their home and learning how to fit into the world as an adult can be challenging enough. We offer guidance and encouragement while walking alongside these young people in life.
All funds received go to cover general operation expenses. Staffing, insurance, gas for boats, food, drinks and snacks for day camps, equipment, and repairs.
Our goal is to help people find peace in their own lives by experiencing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Less stress, less anger, less discontentment, a life of being content no matter our situation is truly a life of peace in our heart. For some we see this only for a day when they are with us, but our hope is they learn to have this mindset in all walks of life.
